En 1997, le marché phytosanitaire représenté par les adhérents de l'UIPP a progressé globalement de 7,25 %, atteignant le niveau de 19,368 milliards de francs dont 12,743 pour le marché intérieur français (+ 4,16 %) et 67625 à l'exportation (+13,7 %). Au plan de la réglementation européenne, 1997 a vu la publication de l'annexe VI (principes uniformes) de la directive 91/414/CEE, I'inscription de l'imazalil sur l'annexe 1 de la même directive, une décision anti-dumping sur des importations, ainsi que deux décisions et un règlement concernant les OGM. En France, outre un arrêté concernant les OGM, le « Plan d'action pour produire plus propre )» avec ses deux avis ministériels de février et juillet 1997 est entré en application. In 1997, the plant protection products market, made up of members of the UIPP (Union of Plant Protection Industries), increased by 7,25 %, rising to FF19.368bn. Domestic sales accounted for FF12.743bn (an increase of 4.16 %), whilst exports totalled FF6.625bn (up 13.7 %).
As far as European regulations are concerned, 1997 saw the publication of Appendix VI (uniform principles) of EEC directive 91/414, the inclusion of imazalil in Appendix 1 of the same directive, an anti-dumping clause relating to imports of Chinese glyphosate as well as two decisions and a regulation relative to genetically modified organisms.
Turning to French regulations, besides a decree concerning genetically modified organisms, the action plan for more environment-friendly production came into force, with full ministerial backing.
