Mildi-LIS, an online decision support system for integrated protection against potato late blight
Mildi-LIS® is an online decision support system that allows a reduction of the number of treatments against late blight potato. It is based on the epidemiological model Premil from Arvalis-Institut du végétal research which work since 1999 to adapt the Ullrich Schrödter model to French climatic conditions.
Up to now, a computer version was available but it did not seem to come up to growers who expected more exchanges with their technician about weather datas and the follow-up of their plots.
Arvalis-Institut du végétal continues its researches on Mildi-LIS® to satisfy its users. For the growers to anticipate a risk period, the use of weather forecasts will help them in protecting their fields against late blight potato. We want to put online late blight risk forecasts based on weather forecasts from Météo France. In addition, the different varieties of potato will be classified according to their sensibility to late blight. A farmer, using Mildi-LIS® will then benefit from the resistance characteristics of his potato variety.
