Empty plant protection product containers (EVPP in France) and unusable plant protection products (PPNU in France), officially considered as dangerous waste, are liable to be collected and subjected to specific treatment. Since 2001, the collection process has been managed and co-ordinated by an organisation known as Adivalor.
The article provides a reminder of the reasons for collection (environment, safety, etc.) and a description of the way in which the different channels operate, for both EVPP and PPNU. The two different types of waste must be stored, collected and treated completely separately from one another. Details are provided of the procedure to follow at each stage, along with practical information and advice for farmers.
A quantitative review of operations carried out and useful addresses are also published.
