The objective of this study was to determine the etiology of decline disease of apricots and to understand its incidence and geographical distribution in the oases of south of Tunisia.
This disease attacks both young and adult apricots trees. It spreads, in field, quite fast. Diseased trees were randomly distributed in the field.
Isolation, made from diseased samples, revealed the presence of an imperfect fungus, identified as Nattrassia mangiferae (H. & P. Syd.) Sutton & Dyko. Its pathogenicity was confirmed on young apricots plants. The fungus was identified from all oases in the south-west of Tunisia and from Sidi Bouzid, in the central part of Tunisia.
