Collective control, under the aegis of the FNGPC and FDGDEC, of the Myocastor coypus coypu , using bait containing rodenticide has been subject to accusations of game and domestic animal poisoning. In fact the vast majority of cases of poisoning occurred due to individual, illegal control initiatives. Collective control on the other hand, which involves user training, tracing of operations and techniques used, provides a high level of safety.
Since control of the coypu is essential, and since the only effective method is collective, and since the use of traps proves to be too expensive, the use of bait containing rodenticide is currently the only way.
