The 4th annual International Conference on Plant Disease, organised by the AFPP, was held in Bordeaux (France) in December 1994. The main subjects dealt with were : economy, quality and innovation.
The notion of economy was dealt with more thoroughly than before, covering the economic effects of crop disease rather than prevention costs, as these are expected to remain stable on a world-wide level.
The effects of plant disease on product quality (mycotoxins, etc...) were covered, as well as the effects of fungicidal protection (product choice and residue levels).
Finally, innovation, a perennial star of ANPP conferences. Five new fungicides (four synthetic molecules and a plant-based composite) were presented. There was also a session on decision-making tools (diagnostic kits, forecasting models, etc...)
