Bergeron apricots grown in the mid-Rhône valley for sale on the fresh fruit market (France and export) need fungicide protection before harvest to be protected against rot following the harvest. This rot is known as storage disease.
Several protection programme commonly set up bu the orchartists have been studied as far as effectiveness (particularly against Brown rot ) and fungicide residue levels are concerned.
The methods used in these trials conform to CEB protocol. Programmes recommending the use of three treatments before harvest come from the results obtained. These include in particular : ? an alternance between the different chemicals (each are used once out of three) ;
? care in using carbendazim as the final treatment for fruit to be sent to Germany;
? the use of triforin, bitertanol and iprodione (if they are alternated).
