With the rinsing of the sprayer in the field of use at the end of pesticide application, it is possible to reduce significantly the quantity of spray residues to manage back to farmyard where their disposal can be processed by different means of treatment (biological beds, physicochemical processes).
This paper deals with the main solutions (concerning both the rinsing devices that can be fitted to the sprayers and the growers practices from the filling to the back to farmyard) in order to manage suitably those spray residues directly in the field.
The main type of rinsing devices on the sprayers are described as well as the procedures for using them. In a last part, the study carried out by
ITV France (the French Wine and Vine Inter professional Technical Center) to determine how to improve In-field rinsing efficiency is presented.
