With the creation of the Reunion Island Plant Protection Centre, Reunion Island today possesses a sizeable infrastructure with a major scientific potential for tropical zones, grouping together the CIRAD, the University of Reunion Island, and two plant protection bodies (SPV & FDGDON). The novelty of this new technological platform is in its pooling of equipment and technologies, the creation of a permanent scientific and technical exchange forum, and the sharing of responsibilities for research, development and training.
The Centre should quickly become a flagship in the region for the implementation of biological pest control strategies.
