En avril 2002, le congrès du MGPR à Sousse (Tunisie) traitait de « Recherche phytosanitaire en alimentation et environnement » et a réuni une centaine de personnes sur ce thème (notamment autour des études de résidus de pesticides dans l'alimentation et l'environnement, mais aussi de techniques alternatives, d'aspects réglementaires et de coopérations entre pays méditerranéens).
En mai 2002, le GFP tenait pour la première fois son congrès hors de France, à Marrakech (Maroc) en présence de 200 personnes. Son thème était « Analyses de traces, bioproduits et qualité de l'environnement ». Avec cinq aspects (lutte biologique, questions analytiques, devenir des produits phytosanitaires, impact des traces, gestion des déchets).
Depuis lors, en septembre dernier, le même GFP a remis le prix Phytopharma pour un travail sur le devenir d'un herbicide dans l'environnement.

In April 2002, the conference of the MGPR held in Sousse (Tunisia) brought together over one hundred participants on the theme of « Pesticide Research in Food and Environment », with specific attention being paid to studies of pesticide residues in food and the environment, and also alternative techniques, regulatory issues and examples of co-operation between different Mediterranean countries.
In May 2002, the GFP held its conference outside France for the first time, in Marrakech (Morocco), with 200 people in attendance. The conference was placed under the banner of «Trace analysis, organic produce and environmental quality». Five main issues were dealt with: biological control, analytical questions, the future of plant protection products, trace impact, waste management.
Since the conference, in September to be precise, the GFP awarded the « Phytopharma » prize, showing recognition for work on a future environment-friendly herbicide.
