Chairman of the French plant protection association (AFPP) since March 2000, Gilbert Maurin continues the activities of his predecessors towards the same goals. The work of internal commissions continues to produce results for the benefit of all. Training courses and conferences are open to all, on a wide variety of plant protection related themes, ranging from technical to environmental (e.g. water quality) to questions of safety (consumers and product sprayers). The organisation of regional conferences, an action launched in 1997, will be stepped up. International relations are currently being developed with the possibility of operations with the AIPP, the Italian counterpart of the AFPP.
The association is also going to enlarge its composition, followed by an extension of the themes dealt with by the association with a greater slant towards the theory and practice of integrated pest management.
