The resistance to prochloraze of fast strains (Tapesia yallundae type Ic/TriR2), which is well established in more than the half of the major areas producing soft wheat in France, leads to a decrease of efficacy and cost-effectiveness. The great aggressiveness of this pest in 2001 and the spread of the number of resistant areas has influenced the efficacy of fungicides. For the first time since 1998, in trials carried out by the Plant Protection Committee, cyprodinil has produced better results than prochloraze. The combination of prochloraze with a well-chosen triazol guarantees results in the control of eyespot. The data collected provides a better understanding of the selective pressure exerted by certain active ingredients and commercially-available products.
Field control of will be long-lasting, requiring both integrated pest management tools (such as modelling, risk assessment?) and the development of preventive measures (choice of resistant varieties, extension of crop rotation), and will combine, in the future, technical and financial efficiency and effectiveness for users.
