The study of «soil tiredness» on sugarbeet crop, by synthetic methods in laboratory and field, shows that root necrosis takes an important place in 50 to 70% of situations, associated or not with nematological problems.
Aphanomyces cochlyoides is on of the principal pests responsible with indidious damages on rootlets. But an other species, unknown on sugarbeet, is pathogenic by reinoculation : Pyrenochaeta fallax. Associated with Fusarium oxysporum which has synergic effects, this fungus causes damages on rootlets with severity in june and july. The implication of Pyrenochaeta fallax is going to be studied thoroughly.
