The December 2000 French plant protection association's International Disease conference (CIMA) will provide the opportunity to present seven active fungicide ingredients which are new to the French market.
First of all there are three strobilurins : trifloxystrobin, BAS 500F and picoxystrobin. Developed initially for use on cereals, they can also be used on other crops (e.g. the second of these is ideal for grapevines).
Next, there are two anti-downy mildew treatments: fenamidon (an imidazolinon) and zoxamide (a benzamide); these have been developed for use on grapevines and potato crops (and also other vegetables in the case of the former).
The 6th substance, silthiofam (a new family of silyl amides), is used in the control of take-all of wheat. Finally laminarin, a natural oligosaccharide which stimulates the plant's natural defence mechanism, is mainly for use on cereal crops.
Besides these new substances, the CIMA will also see the presentation of new data relating to the mode of action of two molecules currently on the market, quinoxyfen and famoxadon, and also to a formulant.
