Dans le but de rechercher de nouveaux fongicides contre le mal sec, principale maladie des agrumes, 41 produits parmi ceux homologués en France en 1999, ont fait l'objet d'essais.
Huit molécules (mancozèbe, manèbe, thiophanate-méthyl, captane, imazalil, prochloraze, difénoconazole, tébuconazole), entrant dans la composition de 11 spécialités commerciales ( Deccosil, Dithane M45, Epopée, Fungaflor TZ, Norsineflo, Octave, Peltar, Pennfluid, Score Ugecap 83 et Sportak HF ) ont une action efficace in vitro.
Seules ou en combinaison elles permettent d'inhiber la germination des phialoconidies et de détruire le mycelium de sept souches de Phoma tracheiphila agent du « Mal sec des agrumes ».
